Arturo Sampson (MX)
Arturo Sampson (may 13th, 1978) was born in México city, where he studied film at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica minoring in directing and producing. He was selected into the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2005, and received the Young Artists Fellowship 2009-2010 for screenwriting. He also attended the workshops of script and actoral directing, from the EICTV school of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, where he later returned to teach a Production workshop and as a committee member of theses.
He started working as freelancer in different Film and Commercial Production companies as 1s AD and Prod. Manager. In 2005 he started working also as a freelance in Canana, where he became partner in 2011, and in 2014 partner of Gloria (brother of Canana for branded content). In early 2020 he decided to become independent.
His credits as Producer / Exec. include the feature films Miss Bala, directed by Catherine Hardwick, Salt & Fire by Werner Herzog, The dance of the 41 and The Chosen ones, by David Pablos, Mr. Pig, and Chavez from Diego Luna, I´m Gona explode, by Gerardo Naranjo, Aningaaq, by Jonás Cuarón (short film for Gravity), The Well, by Michael Rowe, Revolución (segments by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal) Cochochi, by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, Déficit, by Gael García Bernal, Paradise, by Mariana Chenillo, Black sheep, Paraiso Perdido, I Hate love and Camino a Marte by Humberto Hinojosa (Associate/ Consulting producer).
His credits on TV series as Producer / Exec. (both fiction and non scripted) include Luis Miguel the series S1 and S2 (MGM / Netlfix) The Taco Chrónicles S1 and S2 (Netflix) , Fear the walking dead (S2) (AMC) , Niño Santo (Holly Child) (S1 and S2), Alguien más and I’m Your Fan (AKA Soy tu fan) , as well as other TV shows and branded content pieces and other Production Service like HBO´s Insecure.
Besides his production projects, he directed the short films Godot and Red Fish, and the documentaries The latest on fashion (about the maquiladora in México) and co-directed 20 and 10 The fire, the word (about the zapatista movement, and a Coca Cola spot for the halftime of the Futbol Worldcup 2014.
